Sanilhac: Behind the Scenes

So we finally got around to editing some of the video that we shot in while in France. There were four groups filming mini-documentaries: one about a famous German author living in France, one about the small town of Sanilhac itself, one about a long-time resident of Sanilhac, and our group, who got off fairly easily, putting together a kind of behind-the-scenes montage of the trip.
It’s not our greatest work, but I think it’s overall a success, as you can get a little bit of the feeling of what it was like to be on the trip. Let me know what you think:

Week in France

I spent this past week doing some documentary schoolwork in a very small town in France called Sanilhac, set in the pseudo-mountainous region around Ardeche. There was a fairly large group of us media students from Fachhochschule Würzburg; some shot film of the town and it’s people, while another group filmed a short on Anne Chaplet, a fairly famous German author who lives part time in Sanilhac. I got to enjoy time shooting with all the groups, as me and a few other students are just putting together a “making-of/behind-the-scenes” documentary of the whole week.

France was very beautiful; definitely warmer (with more bugs) than Germany. The region where we stayed had this strange climate that was like a mixture between mountains and Mediterranean: pinetrees would be growing side-by-side with palm trees. Kinda strange to me, but awesome nonetheless.

We made a short little roadtrip from Sanilhac up to Pont d’Arc and Ardeche Canyon, essentially the grand canyon of Europe, which was all very impressive. It was intriguing seeing how the roads and towns were really jammed into the terrain; not so common in the states.. I don’t have so many good pictures as I was more focused on filming, but there’s a few that I really like that I already uploaded on my tumblr.
